Buying my last Father's Day card

I bought and mailed my last Father's Day card today. Mom emailed to report that the doctor says there's nothing left to do but to make Dad comfortable until the end. They're calling in Hospice now, and it will probably be over in a month or two.

It's what I expected but still sad.

It's hard to think of anything to say, except "I'm so sorry to hear this," and "Please accept my sympathies." I remember hospice-stage cancer for my grandmother, and...well, what can one say?
