Terrel Owens Fired for Being an Asshole
This week, the Philadelphia Eagles are doing the dead-level best to fire Terrel Owens. Apparently, he's a bit of an asshole.

SI had an interesting article on this situation that makes the point that Owens may have to act the ass to get out the contracts he can't get out of any other way.
Not saying that this is the case.. but it's interesting reading non the less.

Perhaps, but he wasn't trying to get out of a contract when he defiled Texas Stadium in 2000.
That's the source of my own vendetta against him. For the rest of his career, my second favorite team will be whoever is playing against Terrell Owens.

In September, 2000, San Francisco played Dallas in Texas Stadium. We were having a bad year, end of the dynasty, that kind of thing. After scoring a touchdown, Owens ran out to midfield to stand on the blue star and basically taunted the crowd. (That's what the picture is.)
He did this not just once, but twice.
For lifelong Cowboy fans, this was tantamount to filling the Sistine Chapel with devout Catholics and then going to the front of the church to piss on the crucifix. And then going back later to smear your shit on it. Frankly, I'm amazed he got out of town alive.
In the game, he was given two personal fouls (as were a couple of Cowboys who tried to take him apart after the second incident), and the 49ers suspended him for one game.
I'm still waiting for his apology, but I doubt I'll ever get it. As an Eagle, he returned and pulled a similar stunt, but limiting himself to the one of the stars in the endzone. That's not quite holy ground, but it's clear he feels no shame in mocking Dallas fans and their traditions. Not everyone has to be a Dallas fan, of course, and plenty of folks can hate the team, but it takes a special kind of asshole to intentionally mock the fans of one of the proudest and most successful teams in league history.
So, while I'm not a violoent man, I do entertain idle fantasies of going after his knees with a baseball bat.

Yea, coming from a lifelong cowboy fan. I still hold a grudge agianst TO for that, but I did love how he got creamed after he did it. And now that he is on the Cowboys, he did apologize and I believe that Parcells will whip his ass into shape.

Well, it's now the end of October and I haven't seen a lot of evidence that Parcells has "whipped his ass into shape" yet.
